Pattern mixing comes in many styles. You can mix floral/strips, polka dots/strips, polka dots/floral, and floral/floral. I like flowers and strips to add more interest. I particularly enjoy mixing with the same color family. Seems to be easier than trying to combine many different colors and patterns in an outfit. Unless you are really good at it, you may want to stick to same color mixing.

Here is my version of pattern mixing. I’m still enhancing my mixin’ skills.

  • Pants: TJ Maxx, similar
  • Shoes: Macy’s, similar for under $13
  • Shirt: LOFT, similar
  • Earrings and necklace: local store (Opitz)
  • Belt: local store, similar for under $10

This is a great tool to help you decide what can go with what. This is for interior design, but could give you some ideas for your wardrobe.  http://makingitlovely.com.
